Just Transition: "Safe Space" for a socially just energy transition

The Alter Summit working group "Just Transition" invites trade unionists and organizations of the climate change movement working on "Just Transition" to a workshop in Brussels, to exchange views on a socially just energy transition.

The objectives of the workshop are:

To share approaches and views on a socially just energy transition, and to better understand where these approaches and views resemble, complement and differentiate.

To offer an opportunity in a "safe space" (a room for respectful and honest exchange), to better understand the respective realities and views, to overcome eventual misunderstandings and to reveal eventual blind spots.

This workshop is intended to initiate a longer process of building trust and exploring under which conditions trade unions and climate justice organizations can promote a common agenda for a socially equitable energy transition.

Political representatives are also invited to this workshop to allow discussions on a socially just energy transition to be integrated into the debates of the progressive political parties.

At the workshop, follow-up activities will be discussed, for example an event at the European Summer University of Attac, an event at the alternative summit during the COP23 in Bonn, and others.

Workshop in Brussels:
Wednesday, June 21, 2017, 10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Maison des Associations Internationales, 40 rue Washington, 1050 Brussels (map)
