Green New Deal Beyond Slogans
ASSESSING GND PROPOSALS: ARE WE FACING TRANSFORMATIVE AND JUST PROGRAMS?
The EuroMemo Group is a network of European researchers and scholars who address these and further questions by a critical analysis of the current Green New Deal proposals. Green & Social New Deal, Green New Deal, Green Deal and other proposals seek answers to the pressing challenges of the climate and social and economic crises. We want to take a closer look from an economic
perspective at how such Deals can be financed and what they offer to ensure a just transition. Contributions to the debate are ranging from “business as usual: more growth by investing into green alternatives” to “degrowth” as part of radically changed modes of life. In light of the variety of ideas and concepts attached to the term of a Green New Deal, it is now crucial to engage economic expertise with concrete policy proposals.
