The Crisis and Beyond: Left Perspectives for a Transformation in Solidarity

Public event, Brussels

Panel:

Mr. Samir Amin (Senegal)
Ms. Dot Keet (South Africa)
Mr. Michael Brie (Germany)
Chair: Ms. Birgit Daiber

Neoliberal restructuring of societies in North and South is proceeding despite the major negative impacts of current multiple crises. Neither G20 nor EU seem to be willing to change course, and the outcome of the UN Climate Conference in December to avoid immanent climate collapse is uncertain.

To face the consequences of crisis politics and to open transformative paths and possible alternatives to the regime of crisis-capitalism, the Brussels office of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation (RLF) in cooperation with World Forum for Alternatives and TNI Amsterdam will hold the international conference "Beyond the World Crisis" with experts from all over the world from October 28 - 31, 2009. Walden Bello, Samir Amin, Michael Brie, Dot Keet, Susan George, Hilary Wainwright, Meena Menon, Elmar Altvater, Pedro Paez, Francois Houtart and many other experts will discuss effects of the crisis on the international economic order, on labor relations, agrarian structures, food sovereignty, climate and environment, the state as well as the social movements and ways out of the neoliberal lock-up.
