The joint event in the Palais des Colonies is the traditional Brussels summer event of the six foundations related to the political parties in the German Bundestag. It features a speech by a German politician and a garden reception. Every year the event gathers more than thousand guests, among them politicians, officials from the embassies and the European institutions and NGO representatives. In 2011, the Rosa Luxemburg was responsible for the organization of the event.

The speaker was Friedhelm Hengsbach, German Jesuit and philosopher. Friedhelm Hengsbach´s work focuses on economic ethics, the future of wage labour and solidary protection against societal risks. In Tervuren he spoke about the topic „European solidarity – not for free”.
